CASE STUDY: LOGANAIR

Challenge

Before implementing TEMPO into their organization, maintenance crews from Loganair would spend up to 48 hours performing a routine Light A-Check on their passenger aircraft.

Process

To make real organizational improvements, a trial was designed with a few targeted goals in mind.

Planners targeted a 50% reduction in turnaround time on routine Light A-Checks, bringing total check time down from 48 hours to 24.

Results

Even with such an ambitious goal, trial results exceeded all expectations. Maintenance crews smashed through their target time, completing scheduled tasks in 11.5 hours, a 70% reduction in lost time.

Outcomes

It revolutionizes the way planners and technicians create, execute, monitor, and optimize task plans and vehicle maintenance operations. The techniques encapsulated in TEMPO were developed through insights from GENEO’s Lean consultants over the last decade.

While CMMSes are designed to act as an interactive database for maintenance plans, TEMPO integrates with existing planning software to provide planning, short-interval control monitoring, and optimization of maintenance crews, unlocking their full potential and improving supervisor effectiveness in and around the work area. It fills the gap between database and technician user by allowing technicians to:

How It Works

Step 1: Plan

Build exceptional (maintenance and repair) plans for your assets using TEMPO’s rapid build user interface. The simple drag-and-drop editing environment allows for the rapid construction of task sequences for service bays and individuals. Users can define dependencies, assign resources, define intervals, durations, and work sequences for any specialized work task.

Step 2: Do

Redefine the management process through individual operator task allocation. TEMPO’s interactive platform allows operators and technicians to communicate key task information to managers in real time. The platform can be used to identify important areas for optimization by allowing workers to capture and record task concerns, problems, and ideas through their personal interfaces.

Step 3: Check

The simple and accessible task management interface allows supervisors to gain a comprehensive “status at a glance” view that displays task progress by service bay, details, and operator information all in real time. The platform gives managers a complete view of service bay and team progress, utilizing the hourly count snapshot feature to identify and capture crucial data points and concerns to be reviewed by administrators and planners.

Step 4: Act

TEMPO’s automated reporting system provides key workplace summaries and insights to system administrators. Comprehensive data extracted through the platform can be used to inform future process changes and optimization initiatives.
